Multimedia on the web is the use of video, sound and animation. There are several technologies used to achieve this, however the most common are Flash, Shockwave, Real Video and Real Audio. Each of these requires the use of an extension that has to be installed on your browser called a plug-in. In the past this has inhibited the growth of online multimedia. However, Flash which is the most popular and effective of all the technologies, comes pre-installed on most browsers and has a user base covering 95% of Internet traffic. |
